DC Kupwara appeals people below 45 year age for Covid vaccination

KUPWARA, SEPT 20 ( KINS ):  The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today once again appealed people of Kupwara district to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) in view of rise in Covid cases in other districts of the valley, adding that following of CAB is the only way to keep the pandemic at bay.

The DC was addressing a presser at D.C. Office, here today.

Giving details, the DC said that there are only 29 active cases in the district, of which 23 are in home isolation and 6 under administrative quarantine. He said recovery rate stands at 98.63 percent which is satisfactory adding that the weekly positivity rate stands at 0.16 percent which is also satisfactory.

Regarding vaccination, the DC said that 102.89 percent vaccination of the above 45 year population has been done which also includes outsiders coming to the district. Besides, 66.07 percent of the 18 plus age group of the target population have also been vaccinated so far in the district.

The DC congratulated people of Kupwara district for their cooperation in vaccinating themselves.  He again appealed to the people below 45 year age to come forward and vaccinate themselves at nearest vaccination centres for their safety against the COVID.

He also appealed to those people who have got 1st dose of Covid vaccine to administer the second dose.

The DC appealed the people to follow Covid appropriate behaviour (CAB) in letter and spirit by usage of masks, hand hygiene and maintaining social distance so as to keep the district free from the pandemic.

He said that colleges and higher secondary schools are opening in the district and all parents should guide their wards to follow the CAB in the educational institutions properly.
