Forces detect, defuse IED in Rafiabad village

Sopore, Oct 21 (KINS): The Border Security Force on Thursday claimed to have averted a major tragedy by recovering and defusing an Improvised Explosive Device planted near a passenger shed on the National Highway in Saidpora village of Rafiabad of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Officials said that suspected militants had planted the IED near a passenger shed in Saidpora village, which was detected by 143 Unit of BSF.

He said that based on a specific input, a team of 143 unit of BSF today detected the IED during searches in the area.

The official said that BSF along with bomb disposal squad later defused the IED and averted a major tragedy.

Meanwhile, a senior police official said that the security forces have cordoned off the entire area. (KINS)
