DC Kupwara issues Weather Advisory

 

Asks officers to keep men and machinery ready, not to leave station without prior permission

KUPWARA, DECEMBER 03 ( KINS): In view of prediction by Meteorological Department for light to moderate snowfall and rainfall during 5th to 7th of this month, the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din today issued an advisory for the people of the district in general and the people residing in the areas like Keran, Karnah, Machil, Budnamal, Jumgumd, Nowgam, Kumkadi and on the periphery of different Nallahs/rivers prone to floods, sloppy areas of the district in particular and advised them to refrain from venturing in avalanche prone areas till improvement of weather.

The advisory further reads that in case of any urgency, general public can contact District Administration Control Room on phone number 01955-253522 and Police Control Room (PCR) Kupwara on 01955-252451 and PCR Handwara on 01955-262295.

Meanwhile, all District and Sectoral Officers especially the officers and officials of Irrigation & FC, PHE, PDD, R&B, Mechanical and Revenue have been directed not to leave their respective Headquarters without permission from DC office and keep their men and machinery ready to meet any exigency.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities observed at GHSS Baramulla

BARAMULLA, DECEMBER 03: On International Day of Persons with Disability, a programme was today organised by School Education Department Baramulla in Govt Girls Higher Secondary school here, in which a large number of students across the district participated.

President Municipal Council Baramulla, Tauseef Raina was the chief guest while as Chief Education Officer Baramulla G.M. Lone was the special guest on the occasion.

The students taking part in this event showed various types of art in different categories including Singing, Painting, Dancing etc. They also presented a colorful series of cultural items on the occasion.

The students who showed the best part of their talent in different categories of art were felicitated with awards.

After felicitating the talented students, President MC Baramulla urged the whole community that we shall not treat these persons as disabled, rather they are specially abled and they have the capacity and potential to nourish their abilities in every aspect of their life.

He also said that special focus is being given to launch such welfare schemes which can prove pivotal push for upliftment of their socio-economic conditions.

Chief Education Officer also spoke on the occasion and said that it is need of an hour that discriminatory approach these persons are facing at different levels should be eliminated instead they shall be treated at par with other humans.

It shall be our endeavor and desire to help these needy ones when they require it most, he added.

Deputy Chief Education Officer Baramulla, various concerned officers besides students along with escort teachers, HOIs of various schools were also present on the occasion.( KINS)
