DC Srinagar chairs District Advisory Committee meet


Directs for strict action against violations of PC&PNDT Act
SRINAGAR, JUNE 27: A meeting of District Advisory Committee (DAC) on PC&PNDT (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques) Act on Monday was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad at meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, here.
At the outset, the DC who is also the Chairman District Advisory Committee took a detailed account of Provision of Registrations, Inspections, Mechanism for monitoring and implementation of PCPNDT Act in the District. He also discussed the enforcement measures in place in execution of the ACT.
On the occasion, the DC directed the CMO, Srinagar to ensure strong and strict implementation of PCPNDT Act in all Health Institutions and Clinics across the District. CMO was also directed to ensure proper maintenance of the register of clinical establishments.
The DC directed for constituting a special surveillance team of the officers of line Departments to conduct inspection and Redressal of complaints to check violations of PCPNDT. He also asked for submitting report in this regard within week’s time so that action as warranted under law is initiated against the violations of the Act.
The DC asked the Committee to take necessary action in case of complaints filed against diagnostic centres for non-compliance of the Act and cancel the registrations with due public notice to be issued for general awareness that may desist people from visiting these centres.
Earlier, the DC sought suggestions from all the Committee members with regard to ensuring proper implementation of the PC-PNDT Act.
Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, Chief Medical officer, Srinagar, Dr Jameel Ahmad, District Social Welfare Officer, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, District Health Officer, Dr Anjum Afshan, Medical Superintendent JLNM, Dr Abdul Rouf, Consultant Gynaecologist, Dr Rahila Yousf, Consultant Paediatrics, Dr Riyaz Ahmad, Nodal officer, Clinical Establishments, Dr Asifa Jan and other concerned were present in the meeting.
