Bemina Alfarooq colony residents complain of contaminated water supply

Srinagar, Mar 17 (KINS): The residents of Alfarooq colony here in Bemina Srinagar have complained that they are receiving muddy and contaminated drinking water for the last several days.

According to news agency KINS, Residents complained that there was mud visible in water which was not safe for drinking.

The locals here said that despite bringing the issue to the notice of the concerned officials, nothing has happened on the ground and the people are left with no option but to consume the impure water.

“From last several days the water is not fit for use,” the local shopkeeper said.

Zahoor Ahmad, a local, said that despite paying water bills regularly they are getting unsafe water from the past several days.

The residents appealed to the higher authorities of PHE to look into the matter.

“The water we receive from our taps is contaminated and contains mud, if consumed, the water can cause diseases,” another local told KINS.

Chief engineer did not

respond to repeated calls while the concerned Executive engineer Peerzaida Shayaq said that he will look into the issue.

“We have no such information. As far as plant is concerned, all the parameters are up to the mark,” he said however added that he would direct his field staff to check the complaints of contaminated water supply to ensure that the people get clean drinking water.(KINS)
