Tony seeks thorough probe over alleged scam in J&K Bank’s ESPS

JAMMU: Taranjit Singh Tony, Chairman Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu and Kashmir for Administrative Engagement and Minority Affairs, and DDC Member Suchetgarh today sought through probe into the red flags raised by the statutory auditors of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in the employee stock purchase scheme (ESPS).
In a statement issued here today, Tony said that the statutory auditors of Jammu and Kashmir Bank have issued a qualified opinion on the lender’s accounts for the financial year 2022-23 which means that financials are fairly represented but with the exception of a certain area. He described the objection raised by the auditors in J&K Bank as a tip of iceberg, adding that many more skeletons would tumble down the cupboard once a detailed probe was conducted into all fishy transactions executed by the bank.
He said that the said bank had been used as a cash cow by the present government and their corrupt leadership thereby swelling their fortunes at the cost of the public funds & selective targeting of a few business houses while granting immunity to some top politicians.
The senior AAP leader accused the BJP led government at the centre has miserably failed to curb corruption thus promoting a culture of patronage corruption in the said Bank. He demanded through probe in this regard and hoped that the probe would be taken to its logical conclusion.
